Days 7 & 8

Day 7: Feeling Grey
Hair: Bed Head Control Freak #3, dried but didn't straighten
Face: Neutragena Moisturizer, Almay TLC foundation, CoverGirl True Blend mineral powder, CoverGirl blush Rose Silk, CoverGirl concealer, Mary Kay Eye Primer
Eyes: Clinique Stormy and Graphite shadows, highlighter from CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Café Au Lait, Maybelline Define-A-Brown in Light Blonde, Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express
What I did: didn't curl lashes, mascara on top and bottom, I put the lightest grey on my lids and the dark grey as my liner and in my crease, and highlighter under brows

Day 8: Purple RainHair: yesterday's hair, no new products, put in bun/ponytail at end of day
Face: Neutragena Moisturizer, Almay TLC foundation, CoverGirl True Blend mineral powder, CoverGirl blush Rose Silk, Mary Kay Eye Primer
Eyes: Clinique Vintage Wine, highlighter from CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Café Au Lait, Maybelline Define-A-Brown in Light Blonde, Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express
What I did: curled lashes, Mascara on top only, I used a similar technique as the day before, the light purple on the lid and the dark purple as my liner and in the crease.

Day 9: True Blue
Day 9 was so bad I didn't even want to post pictures, but I used Almay i-Intense for Blue eyes. I've always had the products (minus the blue mascara) but hardly use them today. It wasn't too bad but not something I'll implement into my routine.

The Clinique eye shadows I used were so old they didn't have them on their website and my camera wasn't doing them justice, sorry.

Things I learned: I'm going to try to at least dry my hair every day; light colors don't look bad on me; InStyle said to use a cream blush on top of a powder blush so I may try that.

I'm glad that's over, and I'm sure you are too! Thanks again, Charlie, for putting up with me for two weeks!

Now onto things that will actually make me a better person :)

Days 4-6

Day 4: Everyday Remix

Hair: Bed Head Control Freak #3, Biolage Bodifying Creme Gel
Face: Neutragena Moisturizer, Almay TLC foundation, CoverGirl True Blend mineral powder, CoverGirl blush Rose Silk
Eyes: Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Chocolate Mousse
Almay Intense i-color Brown Topaz eyeliner, Maybelline Define-A-Brown in Light Blonde, Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express
What I did: curled lashes, Mascara on top and bottom, thick line of eye liner on top and thin line on bottom, the dark shadow of the trio on the the lid and highlighter color under brows.

Day 5: De ja vu
Another Manic Monday morning
Hair: wavy, used Bed Head Control Freak #3
Face: Neutragena Moisturizer, Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel, Almay TLC foundation, CoverGirl True Blend mineral powder, CoverGirl blush Rose Silk,
Eyes: CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Café Au Lait, Almay Intense i-color Brown Topaz eyeliner, Maybelline Define-A-Brown in Light Blonde, Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express
What I did: curled lashes, Mascara on top only, thick liner on top

Day 6: Ray of Light, Come Into the Light, Let Your Light Shine… I thought of many titles for today
I’ve been trying out dark colors for several days in a row, so I figured I’d try light ones today.
Hair: wavy, used Bed Head Control Freak #3 but didn’t scrunch
Face: Neutragena Moisturizer, Almay TLC foundation, CoverGirl True Blend mineral powder, CoverGirl blush Rose Silk, CoverGirl concealer
Eyes: Almay Intense i-color eyeshadow for blue eyes, CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Café Au Lait, Almay Intense i-color Brown Topaz eyeliner, Maybelline Define-A-Brown in Light Blonde, Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express, blue eyeliner
What I did: curled lashes, mascara on top only, used a blue eyeliner on top and bottom but then got scared and covered it up a little with brown shadow, the lightest blue all over the lid, and the highlighter shade from the brown trio.

Things I've learned from these three days: still don't like my wavy hair, especially if I don't scrunch it, I don't like the end of Day 5 at all, I need to stop tilting my head!, and it looks like I have something growing out of the side of my head on Day 5.

Day 3: Leftovers

I knew I had a meeting to go to this morning, so I didn’t want to look too bad. So I decided not to wash my hair. Oh, P.S. I missed my meeting!

I've learned two things: My everyday look is not good! And I need to be more consistent with my picture taking. And again, thank you Charlie, for taking them!

Halloween!

Well, not everything went according to plan, but that’s ok. Originally, I wanted Jay and me to go as Awkward Family Photos. Wear white shirts and jeans like most portraits, even pin “awakwardfamilyphotos.com” to our shirts, and just pose awkwardly for pictures. But Jay wanted a real costume. About 12:30 on Hallow’s Eve afternoon we brave the Halloween stores. Jay discovers a Michael Myers (Halloween movies) mask and decides that’s what he wants to be! “Great! Now what I am going to be?!” I say to myself and probably to him as well. Anyway, to make a long story short, we decide to buy real blue coveralls, not the thin fake ones the costume stores sell. It took us a little bit, but we found them at Wal-Mart (although crowded and most often gross, Wal-Mart is really there for you when you need them). But by now it’s 2:30, we have to be at the party by 5:30, I still have to bake cookies, so I turn to my good friend Tracy as ask to borrow her “nice” witch costume.
My only attempt at a costume was my “smoky eyes.”

We make it to the party on time, we have a blast, and we even played my favorite game – FRIENDS Scene it! The girls lost, but the questions weren’t fair at all.

9-Day Challenge

People may call me crazy, but at the end of a work day I think I look like a sick raccoon. My mascara has created grey circles under my eyes. My once dark brown eye shadow is now a pale tan. My foundation has worn off so you can see every broken capillary (thank you, Rehorovic side of my family). And you thought I was pale with makeup on?! You should see me at the end of the day!
Why does all of that matter? Well… 1. I feel sorry for my co-workers and the grocery store employees at the Kroger on my way home; 2. My husband shouldn’t have to come home to that (which make me rethink my “wash face as soon as I get home” plan); 3. I don’t like it.
Game plan: I’m going to try 9 different looks (I’m taking off one day so clean before my mom comes to town!). Charlie is going to take my picture every morning when he gets to work and before we leave for the day. I’ll form my own opinions, but you’re more than welcomed to comment.
This will be hard for me for several reasons. But a blog topic is a blog topic!
I guess we’ll see what I look like on Monday!

November

New month, new goals.
First and foremost: START WAKING UP EARLIER!! I need to leave my house by 6:40 in order to avoid tolls and arrive at work by 7:30. Lately, I’ve been waking up at 6:25. As a result, I look absolutely terrible. And I don’t want to look like that. I want to take my time to get ready and just look simply terrible instead of absolutely terrible. So I want to wake up no later than 5:45. And in order to do that, I think as soon as I get home I’m going to start getting ready for bed. I know that sounds absurd, it takes me 30+ minutes to get ready for bed. So, if I put on my PJ’s and wash my face as soon as I get home, when it’s time to go to bed I simply have to brush my teeth and TA DA! I’m ready to go to bed!
Secondly, I want to have a better attitude towards Thanksgiving. Now don’t get me wrong, I love giving thanks, God is awesome and amazing and everything that is good… however stuffing and yams and cranberry sauce and I don’t really get along. Basically, I just don’t need to say “ugh, I want to shoot myself in the face” when referring to Thanksgiving.
Thirdly, I need to handle stress better. I need to find an outlet. My nails are atrocious from biting them (and I was doing so well!), my poor husband feels the brunt of it (not very often), and my thighs are growing as we speak.
Ok, three big things for the month of November should do it.

Update

Hey! Wuz up? Nuttin’ much here.

Hehe! Remember junior high?! Good times! I bet kids nowadays don’t even pass notes in class anymore…they just text. What a shame.

Anyway…the point of the post was just to let you, my loyal followers, all 3 of you, what has been going on around here.

I was planning on doing a “Best Aunt Ever!” post. I was going to visit my sister and nephews and watch their football games and make signs and wear game shirts!... but Maggie (the puppy) hasn’t had all of her shots so she couldn’t stay at the PetHotel. So alas, it has been reduced to sending them Halloween pencils. The oldest may be too old for them, but it’s the thought that counts, right?!
I wanted to throw a huge UFC (Ultimate Fighter Championship) party Saturday night. I was envisioning red and black plates and napkins, snacks, plenty of seating… but everyone had already eaten and I just simply didn’t have enough comfortable seating for everyone and I’m too poor to go buy something. So again, alas, we just simply had people over and sat around watching the fights.
I did, however, buy a super cute tablecloth from Target, along with napkins, and napkin rings. And I sat my table.
Unfortunately, I only have 3 chairs so I only made 3 place settings. In my copious free time, I’ll iron everything, but until then they will just stay wrinkled :)
I really want to make a fall wreath I saw on BHG.com, maybe when my mom comes to town. I’m supposed to plant pansies in October, but you’re insane if you think I’m going to do it by myself!

This weekend is Halloween, and I can’t tell you how much I’m not looking to it! But I’m trying super hard to get into the spirit, so maybe I’ll post something later in the week!
The next weekend Tami is going to take our family picture for our Christmas card! What should I wear? Something festive? Or something more generic? You tell me!

Compliments

Have you ever given a compliment that you didn’t mean? I know I have! Lots of them!

“Oh! I love those shoes!” or “Your hair looks so good!”

I tend to only give them to strangers or people I try really hard to find something good about… so not my close friends! I’d [politely] tell them if I disliked something ;)

But really, I think we’ve all given those. So who is to say that when I receive I compliment it’s true? I don’t know if it’s true. Because I guarantee you, the woman with the ugly holiday sweater loves her ugly holiday sweater and doesn’t know it’s an ugly holiday sweater (hint hint: don’t wear ugly holiday sweaters!). And on the flip side of that, if I receive a compliment from a friend or family member of course they’re going to say that… they’re my friend/family!

For instance: here’s a real conversation between me & my friends (whom you’ve met)
From: Emily
Subject: RE: Operation Beautiful
Tami, are you going to continue with the word meaning thing?
Beautiful has always been my favorite word. If you could describe me in anyway, beautiful would be the biggest compliment. To me, it’s more than just outward beauty… and the outward part of it is more of an elegance. In fact, in high school (cause we know I love naming hypothetical babies) I always wanted to name my daughter something that meant “beautiful.” My fave was Kennice, kinda weird, but I liked K’s back then.

From: Tami
Subject: RE: Operation Beautiful
And Emily, our very dear friend, you are so very beautiful.

From: Emily
Subject: RE: Operation Beautiful
HAHA, that compliment doesn’t count.

From: Lindsay
Subject: RE: Operation Beautiful
Why wouldn’t Tami’s compliment count?

From: Emily
Subject: RE: Operation Beautiful
Because I just said beautiful would be the biggest compliment. you can’t give that compliment after just saying that!

From: Lindsay
Subject: RE: Operation Beautiful
But we tell you that all the time and you don’t really accept it anyway!
And it DOES count b/c she meant it…so there!!

I don’t know what it’s going to take for me not to believe that everyone’s throwing out empty compliments.

But I am reminded of this verse:
Titus 1:15 (New King James Version)
15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. – I’m the defiled in this case because I’ve thought bad things about people so I need to purify myself of those things and focus on everyone’s beauty.

P.S. Check out operationbeautiful.com it’s a site with people posting notes saying something to the effect of “you are a beautiful woman.” It’s really neat.
