The Voice

Did anyone watch The Voice last night? i guess this is more of a rhetorical question since I have very few "followers," but I really liked it and am interested to see how it progresses. I LOVE Adam Levine *chills* Of course I knew I'd like Blake. I wasn't won over by Xtina or CeeLo.

That is all. If you read this, leave a comment even if you didn't see it!

As of April 19th (Green)

Sorry I haven't blogged much. Hopefully I will next week to document Easter weekend with my family. And then we're going to SEATTLE!! So I'll definitely blogged about that!
Updates in Green:
-      Organize desk/office
o   Office really means guest room closet
§  Worked a little bit on this. I organized my gift wrapping. And I’m still throwing away/shredding bills from 2007/2008!
§  I worked on this Friday night. I got a lot done. I still have a trash and recycle and shred pile on the bed, but I believe I’ve gone through everything and found a place for it (somewhat). I still need to find a place for my printer… my desk has too much stuff on it. So obviously, I still have some work to do. But I did buy pretty wrapping paper so that I can hand-make magazine file thingys to put binders and such.
o   And I’m bummed I didn’t have enough money to go shopping during The Container Store’s desk organization sale last week.
-      Organize garage/laundry room
o   My “laundry room” is tiny, so if I could organize my garage, it could help me maximize my laundry space.
o   I need shelving for detergent and such (it’s too heavy to put it on the shelf that’s already up there – it’s really high!)
-      Organize & use coupons better
o   On Ebay there’s a super cool coupon book I want to order.
§  I got this! It will arrive this week!
§  I organized my binder this week! But I haven’t used it yet.
o   Unfortunately, Kroger is no longer doubling and tripling their coupons so I may start shopping at Wal-Mart or Randalls. We’ll see…
o   I need to get a new computer so I can hook up my printer and print coupons
§  We got a new computer! I’m supposed to pick it up today!
o   I need to not be lazy on Sundays and actually stop at the store to get a paper.
§  Still didn’t pick up a paper!
§  Picked up a Sunday paper! And clipped coupons! And organized a shopping list(s)!
§  Picked up a Sunday paper, clipped coupons, and put them in my binder!
-      Wake up earlier
o   It has been taking me an hour to get to work, so leaving at 6:50 is no longer working for me. I need to be out the door by 6:30. Hopefully with Jay’s new schedule I can accomplish this!
§  Took a shower last night. Saved time but have learned I MUST dry my hair at night as well.
§  Yeah, this just isn’t going to work. I still have to come up with a better plan.
§  No new plan. Just looking homely.
o   My goal is to only take the Beltway (tollway) once a week.
§  Took HWY 6!
§  I took HWY 6 everyday last week but Tuesday!
§  I took the Beltway this morning :/
§  Haven’t done well this week. I took the Beltway yesterday (Monday) and today.
-      Train dogs
o   This is a big one! One that will not be accomplished over a month. One that will take the most amount of patience and work.
o   They need to stop jumping on the furniture
o   We need to start crate training them thru the night so when the baby cries I won’t trip over them.
o   They need to learn not to jump.
§  They did much better when Jay’s dad came over.
o   They need to learn not to dig.
o   They need to learn not to scratch on the door incessantly even when I tell them “tough.”
§  Learning to sit instead (without training!)
o   They need to learn not to bolt out the door. Ideally, I’d love for them to stay in the front yard without leashes.
o   They need to walk with us better so I can walk them with the stroller.
o   Like I said, this is a big one!

FBFF - April 8 - Trends for 2011

April 8: Spring Trend
What are the top 5 Spring trends that you are looking forward to
seeing/sporting this season? (Can be anything from makeup, shoes,
accessories, clothing, etc..)
Obviously, I’m not personally looking forward to the spring trends since I’ll be buying maternity clothes (and I don’t want to get “trendy” maternity clothes so that I can wear them in the future), BUT I do love looking at magazines! LC, TK, and I spent our lunch break at Target looking at all of the fashion magazines trying to get a handle on the 2011 trends. What we’ve found it that pretty much anything goes and the 90’s are coming back just much better looking (i.e. the chambray shirts, oxford shoes, loafers, blazers, small floral prints)! I decided to buy the PEOPLE Style Watch magazine because it’s less runway and more realistic. I get the whole point of runway, but I’m not imaginative enough to pull bits and pieces away, I just see a weird, non-realistic wardrobe on a weird, non-realistic stick person. Another reason I like PEOPLE Style Watch is that they’re “get this look for less” really is for less! GLAMOUR, for instance, goes from a $4000 outfit to a $400 outfit. $400 is not affordable, people!

P.S. I did this post old school.. I literally cut out the pics, taped them to white paper, hand wrote on them, scanned them, and uploaded them. So sorry for the quality :)

Aunts

Aunts
These two women are one of the reasons I still have hope for me yet. Meet my dad’s sisters – Aunt Suzie and Aunt Melinda… and their blogs.
Aunt Suzie
Aunt Suzie is…hilarious. Often times she reminds me of Phoebe Buffay from FRIENDS. Always has a smile on her face and tells the funniest stories. In high school, she was the beauty queen. Now, she’s the mother, not just any mother, but a wonderful, couldn’t imagine anyone better mother, to a mentally and physically handicapped daughter, Keshia. She is an elementary school principal, again not just “an” but the best. Her knack for dealing with children is uncanny. Every kid loves Mrs. Mitchell.
She’s the “beautician” of the family. If you ever want an at home perm, color, or haircut, she’s your gal… well, kind of. There have been a few orange, extremely curly hairdos in the past, but she’s gotten better! And make-up!... I’ll never forget the first time I wore blue eyeliner. Of course, it was on my cheek in the shape of a star to celebrate the Cowboys going to the Super Bowl in the 90’s, but anytime I wear a lot of color I think of her.
I do get some of my “skills” from her. She’s the queen of semi-homemade cooking. She taught me how to make my first pie. It was a graham cracker crust and peanut butter and condensed milk and you put it in the freezer and ta-da! you had a pie! Although, we’ve learned over the past couple of years she’s actually a great cook, she just doesn’t desire it, much like me.
Aunt Melinda
I don’t know how many times my dad has called me “Melinda.” I would love to say we’re a lot alike, but ironically, she’s more of the “Suzie Homemaker.” Just read her blog and you’ll see. She’s crafty (her craft room is bigger than our house almost), a great cook, and a handy(wo)man.
Some of my earliest memories are with Aunt Melinda. She watched me a lot before I started school. I would go “grocery shopping” in her kitchen – not fake grocery shopping, but real, take stuff out of the pantry shopping. She was probably really glad when I left. I own a label maker today because of this woman. She had the kind that printed out blue strips with white raised letters… ah, good times. I think she should blog about some of her projects.
Another weird thing that makes us similar is our husbands! They get along so well! Jay thinks Uncle Steve is hilarious because he’s the only one in the family that will make fart jokes.
Unfortunately, I didn’t spend much time with them growing up because we moved away when I was nine. Maybe if I had, I’d be a mixture of them both, aka Superwoman. But I’m glad that I have their blogs now to keep us close. Although, Aunt Suzie, you should write more! Thank you both for being the wonderful, spiritual, inspirational women that you. Love you!
P.S. I have other great aunts and uncles… they just don’t have blogs J and I’m closest to these two.
P.P.S or P.S.S this isn't a very well written piece, but you get the idea.

Just Another Day in Paradise…
…it’s my ringtone for when Jay calls and I guess I set myself up for major chaos when I assigned it. Things that have been going on this past week:
-          We did our taxes… we OWE $3600
-          Emmitt (dog) barfed 8 times Tuesday night. I’m not talking, oh let me get a paper towel, I’m talking “holy moly, we need a towel, mop, and bleach.”
-          2 of these times were on our living room rug. It is now ruined.
-          We go to wash his bed and towels… and find out the washing machine is broke, we had to buy a new one
-          After all of this drama, and I mean drama, we decide to go to bed. Jay, in his routine, grabs the remote to turn on the TV and all we hear are sparks.
Silver Linings:
-          As much as I loved my rug, we need to get a new coffee table that’s not glass for the little toddler to come. So, I get a new coffee table that with the rug wouldn’t have matched and made the living room look tiny.
-          We were able to decrease our taxes by $500! Whoo-hoo!
-          A friend is going to give us a free 32” TV
God is great! I just need a reminder in the whirlwinds.

April’s Resolutions:

I am nesting. Not because I’m ready for this baby to come. And not because I’m confident in being a parent just yet. I am nesting because I know I have so much progress to make that it’s going to take several months.
So I’ve made a lengthy list of things to do for the month of April. And for once it’s not “drink more water.”
So far I have:
-      Organize desk/office
o   Office really means guest room closet
o   And I’m bummed I didn’t have enough money to go shopping during The Container Store’s desk organization sale last week.
-      Organize garage/laundry room
o   My “laundry room” is tiny, so if I could organize my garage, it could help me maximize my laundry space.

o   My goal is to only take the Beltway (tollway) once a week.
**Today is April 1, and I did not do well!
-      Train dogs
o   This is a big one! One that will not be accomplished over a month. One that will take the most amount of patience and work.
o   They need to stop jumping on the furniture
o   We need to start crate training them thru the night so when the baby cries I won’t trip over them.
