Class Fail

Sorry guys, I have a half written post about my amazing work baby shower, but I haven’t had time to finish it or upload the pictures. So I’ll tell you of my “fail” from last night…
At church we are implementing a new curriculum for the children’s bible classes. I signed up for the 3 year old class last year before I knew what God had in store for me. And since I won’t be able to fulfill my 3 year commitment due to my pregnancy, I am helping/teaching the 1st quarter (well, 2 of the 3 months) with the curriculum coordinator, my friend Tracy. For the past several weeks Tracy has been teaching Sunday and Wednesday in order to get the new routine down and work out the glitches. Perfect.
Well, last night was my first night to teach. I was freaking out. Not only do kids scare me, but the expert of what we’re doing is sitting there watching me!! I know she says she’s not judging, but how can you not?!
It took me a while to get the kids settled after the bell rang, but they put away their books and sat there staring at me waiting for me to begin. FREAK OUT MOMENT! I was sweating profusely, smiling my awkward smile and staring at Tracy like “please help me!”
“Breathe. You can do this.”
The first thing we do is a flip chart called “Where are We Going Today?” It goes something like “Are we going to the lake today? No! Not today!... Are we going camping today? No! Not today!” and so on. The children are supposed to respond enthusiastically with “Nooooo! Not today!!!”
What did I get??? Well before I even asked if we were going to the lake a little girl says “well, we’re not going to the lake today” with a smirk on her [super cute] face.
Ok! So what do I do with that?!! So I just say it anyway… “Arrreee wwweee going to the…lake today?” Silence. Then another little girl chimes in “I got flip flops!”
I don’t think I got an appropriate response the entire “Where are We Going Today” flip chart.
Tracy will probably volunteer to teach every class from now on.

I promise that had nothing to do with your teaching ability, but with the minds of 3 year olds!! LOL!! It happens to everyone! You mentioned something that reminded her of her new flip-flops!! You're GREAT!!! :)
